Ondo gov, Akeredolu, extends medical leave

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, yesterday, extended his medical leave, following a letter he sent to the state’s House of Assembly. According to the letter, received by the Speaker, Olamide Oladiji, the governor’s request was based on the advice of his doctors to fully recuperate before returning to the state.

However, the duration of his medical leave abroad was not stated in the letter.

The Speaker, in a statement, commended the governor for adhering to the constitutional requirements and expressed gratitude to God for the governor’s quick recovery. He also expressed optimism that the governor would soon return to his duties in good health.

“Following the doctor’s advice on the need to take adequate rest after recuperating, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has forwarded the letter of extension on medical leave to the Ondo State House of Assembly.

“The governor’s action is in line with Section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended).

“According to the letter, his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would continue to act as governor until there is a written declaration to the contrary,” the letter stated.
