Ondo poll: Akinterinwa pledges to end over reliance on federal allocation


Ondo state governorship aspirant, on the platform of the All progressives Congress (APC), Chief Wale Akinterinwa has pledged to free the state from over reliance on monthly allocation from the federation account.


Speaking to reporters at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms, he promised to boost the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the state to achieve the goal.

Accompanied by scores of his supporters, he recalled how the state raised its IGR from N600 to N3 billion monthly as Commissioner of Finance in the state when the late Rotimi Akeredolu held away to underlined the fact that it was an achievable target.

He as one with vast experience in both the private and public sector, he said he would ensure the transformation of Ondo state from a civil service state to a prosperous industrial hub in the South West geo political zone of the country.


He identified youths employment and utilisation of the vast agricultural potentials of the state as part of the areas that would preoccupy his attention.

He also pledged to utilize the vast coastal line of the state as well as it’s tourism potentials, he promised to not only create the enabling environment for ease of doing business , ensure security of lives and properties and serve as the chief marketing officer of the state.

He added: “We can’t afford to have our younger ones and graduates roaming the streets. We would be focusing on industrialization through agriculture. We would engage our resourceful youths fully . It’s no brainer.

“We will also engage our women, and tap from their resourcefulness. We would produce graduates that are employable. We must have people have the right kind of training in their chosen area of endeavors.”
