Ondo SSG decries plan to pitch her against Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu

• Denies engaging in shouting match with Aiyedatiwa
• Calls for integrity tests on cabinet members

The Secretary to Ondo State Government (SSG), Oladunni Odu, yesterday, faulted the alleged move by some persons to give President Bola Tinubu a bad impression about her ahead of the November governorship election in the state.

Odu, who was reacting to an online report that she had a shouting match with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, stated that she never threatened to deal with the governor without the backing of the President.

In a statement she personally signed, the SSG described as disgusting the plot by the online news platform and its financiers to fan the embers of crisis in the state.

Odu, while advising against dragging Tinubu into the state’s political matters, described such a report as a deliberate attempt to give the President a false impression.

She said: “The report that I threatened to throw the governor out of office because I have President Tinubu’s backing can only come from someone who has no knowledge about the way governance works.

“Lucky Aiyedatiwa is the governor, and that is not in dispute. Also, I have enormous respect for the office of the governor and will always respect the governor, who is my brother.”

The SSG, who promised to do her work diligently and responsibly till her last day in office, said that Ondo State is bigger than anyone and that she would not be a party to bringing the state down.

She described as laughable the claim that she called the governor an impostor, stressing that she is too educated to use words with no bearing on a conversation.

Odu, therefore, implored the governor to conduct an integrity test on members of the State Executive Council to identify those who misrepresent facts about events at the meetings of the Council to avoid a situation whereby they would destroy his government.
