Ooni celebrates Valentine’s Day with gift items for newborn babies

Ooni celebrates Valentine’s DayNo fewer than 20 newborn babies got various gift items from His Imperial Majesty (HIM), the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan-Ogunwusi, Ojaja II on Valentine Day.

The Ooni, who through his Hopes Alive Initiative (HAI), a Non-governmental initiative to positively impact the lives of people, visited Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife and Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), Osogbo in Osun State and the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State tagged: “Annual Valentine Newborn Outreach” to mark the valentine with children.


Her Regal Majesty, Queen Temitope Morenike Enitan-Ogunwusi, who gave the items to the mothers of the newborn babies on behalf of the Ooni, was overwhelmed by the joy of the babies’ mothers, who said that they couldn’t believe that royal gifts could come their ways through their babies from the Ooni of Ife.

In her speech, the queen reiterated the Ooni’s belief in the biblical injunction that “babies are the heritage of God, who must be loved, celebrated and taken care of because they are the future leaders.”

He added that parents should always teach their children the way of the Lord in order to bring peace to the families and indeed the society at large.

The Acting Chief Medical Director of OAUTCH, Prof. Afolabi Owojuyigbe, who appreciated the monarch for the kind gesture, described the visit on a Valentine Day as a surprise.

“This is a symbol of love to humanity through these babies,” he said.

While the Chief Medical Director at LAUTECH, Prof. Peter Olaitan, who acknowledged the love displayed by the King and the queens on Valentine Day, enjoined Nigerians, especially the rich, to come to the aid of many patients in the hospital, who need help.

The Chief Medical Director, UCH Ibadan, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo, represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Abiodun Adeoye, said that the Ooni’s show of love to the babies has demonstrated the love of God to the children with the gifts items.
