Opa Meta set to premiere in London, April 26

A new movie promoting Yoruba cultural heritage and value, Opa Meta, is set to premiere in the United Kingdom on April 26.

The producer and also lead cast, Ms Omolara Raimot Dauda, popularly called Omolaradaud, revealed this an interview with newsmen in Lagos.

Dauda, also producer of Igbekun, Alejo Oru, among others, stated that the movie has been scheduled to premiere at Double Tree by Hilton in London.


She explained that the project was specifically billed to premiere first in the UK, having earned international support and funding from the Tayese Academy of Arts of Culture (TAAC) in London in conjunction with Larat Studios Film Production.

According to her, the film features legends with track records, some of whom are Netflix filmmakers and actors.

Dauda named the lead and some other cast of the movie as Peju Ogunmola, Jaiye Kuti, Afeez Eniola, Abeni Agbon, Niyi Johnson, Baba Fokoko, Mummy G.O, among others.

She stated that the movie features the best hands in the film industry to effectively deliver the script in a manner that captivate, entertain, and also educate the viewers.

According to her, the film centres on the need for parents to educate their children on the Yoruba culture and family values and how some of them affect children, which they must take cognisance of.

Dauda explained that the movie would expose viewers to the consequences of neglecting cultural values, as well as educate the children on the need to be obedient to the advices of their parents and also hold cultural and family values in high esteem.

According to the producer, all has been concluded with the production of the movie and following the premiere in London, the film would be officially released on May 27.

The Founder and Executive Secretary of TAAC, Mr Olanrewaju Sharafa, said that the Academy is incorporated in London with the mission to promote Yoruba arts and culture through education, creative projects, events and networking.

The movie director, Olamide Laoye, popularly called Olami also assured viewers that Opa Meta is a captivating, entertaining, comic and educative movie geared towards promoting Yoruba heritage to prevent the culture from going into extinction.
