The change and hope Nigerians seek

Sir: As dark clouds continue to gather in the horizon enroute Nigeria’s already doomed voyage to 2027 in the rickety ship-of-state called “the 1999 Constitution”, and as the trapped passengers aboard that rickety ship (Nigerians) juggle their largely bad options in the search for some kind of Hope, Mr Atedo Peterside spoke in an interview about the Hope that Peter Obi’s potential candidacy for 2027 represents.

Looking back at a similar scenario in 2015 Presidential Electoral Cycle in which the search was for Change, those now looking for Hope to buy into, should be informed that there is already a Hope in Owerri. There is another called “Renewed Hope” in the Aso Villa. Then this Hope represented by Obi which Peterside is speaking about.

It is important to clearly define the content of the Hope we are looking for so that we do not end up with the wrong Hope.

Just like the Change that was being sought during the Presidency of Goodluck Jonathan was undefined and so the seekers of Change ended up with the dummy called CHANJI in the person of Muhammadu Buhari on the power-grab coalition called All Progressives Congress (APC).

To define that content, we may wish to review the following: What is the way out of the mess unitary Nigeria has become: Is It leadership change via election or constitutional reset via transitioning?

Until we discuss Nigeria and agree on the basics, we have no union
