The President, Rotary Club of Isolo, Rotary International, District 9110, Abimbola Oseni has called on Nigerians to always remember the less privileged while in their comfort zones irrespective of the situation in the country.

She made the appeal during her first event as the President of the club, titled “inaugural fellowship with the blind at Federal Nigeria Society for the blind”, with the theme: “Renewed Hope for the visually impaired” which took place in the school premises, Oshodi, Lagos.

“Starting the Rotary year with the visually impaired gives me joy and apart from giving them hope that they are not sidelined from the society, it also gives me hope that my Rotary year will be very impactful.

“I was highly elated to see them dancing and expressing joy for seeing people around them and this gives me a sense of satisfaction.

“This is the reason I am pleading with the people out there that while they are eating, drinking and wining at home they should remember the students of this school who instead of being liability to the society have decided to come here to learn a vocation that would make them productive.

“They produce bags, shoes, sandals, shirts, key holders among others and there is no difference between their products and those being sold out there, hence I implore Nigerians to please come here and partronise them which would go a long way to helping them in the payment of their school fees” she said.

She said it has become necessary to impact on the less privileged at this time that things are difficult for a long of Nigerians in line with the Rotary International theme for this year which is “Create Hope in the world”.

Oseni said that in addition to eating, dining and wining with the students, the club considered it necessary also to bring for them mattresses and pillow cases all to the cost of about a million naira.

She disclosed her star project as the continuation of the building of the cervical cancer centre at Isolo General Hospital while the project for this month remains maternal and child health.

Past Zonal Coordinator, Rotary International, District 9110, Niyi Adesanya who represented the District Governor described the meeting with the blind as a laudable one that brought joy to the students as he commended the club and President Oseni. He called on Nigerians to follow suit by visiting the school, put smiles on their faces and buy their products.

The Executive Secretary, Federal Nigeria Society for the Blind, Oluwamayowa Oke commended the club for the meeting and the items brought as he also called on members of the community to emulate the club.

The School Principal, Joseph Oladokun said the school runs one year and two year programmes for academic and vocational programmes.
