Osinbajo tasks FBOs on unity, peaceful coexistence

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has urged Faith-Based Organisations (FBOs) to speak more on Nigeria’s unity and peaceful coexistence among the citizens.

Osinbajo spoke at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, when he received a delegation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, led by a member of the Quorum of 12 Apostles, Todd Christofferson, who visited from the church’s headquarters in Salt Lake, Utah, United States of America (U.S.A.).

He urged the organisations to speak more about the unity of men and women across the country regardless of their faith and ethnicity.

In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity,
Office of the Vice President, Laolu Akande, quoted the VP as saying: “We are at a time in our country when this message is very important. The message of unity’ the message of saying that nations are built around people who believe in God and those who do not,” he said.

Commending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its social service works in the areas of clean water, immunisation and others, the Vice President said: “For FBOs, it is an article of faith that you must contribute to the development of society.”

On his part, Christofferson commended the efforts of the VP in fostering unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, noting that the church in Nigeria would continue to contribute to development, aside preaching unity among citizens.
