Otu approves payment of N440m WASSCE fees for 16,301 students

Bassey Otu

The Cross River State government has approved payment of N440, 127, 000 for students in public schools writing the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The state governor, Bassey Otu, said the present economic situation, characterised by the high cost of living, requires some palliative measures in the education sector.

He said this would reduce the hardship of parents in meeting the educational responsibilities of their wards.
Otu, however, warned schools against any untoward practice, such as padding, saying such would not be tolerated.
