‘Owujoi K’Idoma’: Enone People’s Congress celebrates Obande’s recognition as ‘More Than Able Son’

The Enone Kingdom of Nigeria is celebrating one of its own, Chief Williams Obande, after he was bestowed with the prestigious title of “Owujoi K’Idoma,” meaning “The More Than Able Son of Idoma.” This recognition, announced by the Och’Idoma, His Royal Majesty Agaba-Idu Dr. Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John, highlights Obande’s tireless efforts in uplifting the Idoma community.

Akor Sunday, convener of the Enone People’s Congress, lauded the decision, calling Obande, affectionately known as the “Prince of Enone,” a shining example of the community’s legacy of excellence. Obande, son of the late Oche Enone the 1st, stands out for his dedication to advancing human capital, education, entrepreneurship, and social consciousness among the youth.

Despite residing in the UK, Obande’s contributions have made a significant impact across Idomaland. He has quietly supported vocational training programs, orphanages, widows, and community outreach initiatives. His efforts to improve infrastructure include opening roads and providing customized uniforms for Okada riders to enhance security.

Driven by empathy, Obande has further extended his support to mother-and-child hospitals, aiming to reduce maternal mortality rates. His commitment to education is evident through scholarships offered to underprivileged students, recognizing the importance of education for societal progress.

The Enone People’s Congress sees Obande’s recognition as a beacon of hope for the younger generation. His dedication to social good serves as an inspiration, urging others to contribute to the betterment of their communities.

“Chief Williams Obande, known for his humility, has consistently eluded media attention despite his significant contributions to his community, which have had a resounding impact on the entire Idoma nation,” said Akor.

“Beyond attending to the immediate needs of his people, he has quietly influenced the younger generation with vocational training interventions, where many have discovered and pursued their aspirations.

“This also encompasses ongoing contributions to orphanages and widows in Idomaland, community outreach efforts, and the opening of roads to enhance accessibility.

“Driven by his deep empathy for the disadvantaged, he has extended his support to mother-and-child hospitals in an effort to reduce maternal mortality rates, and also provided high vest customised uniforms for all Okada riders to distinguish them from criminal elements in the society.

“Furthermore, his commitment to education has led him to provide scholarships to less privileged students at various educational stages. He firmly believes that without an improved quality of life for these individuals, the very fabric of society is at risk.” Akor added.
