The baton of the 13th “Hope President”, Rotary Club of Abule-Egba Metropolitan for 2023-2024 Rotary year has been passed to Raphael Oyebamijo at an event that took place in Lagos.
Oyebamijo promised to carry out projects in the Rotary International seven areas of focus, putting smiles on the faces of members of his community despite the economic hardship in the country.
The President, who is a Paul Harris Fellow, promised to lead by example by becoming a major donor this Rotary year. He also promised to encourage other members to donate to the Rotary Foundation, at least, $5,000.
“Nearly every year, we contribute not less than N100,000.00 to the District Educational and Welfare Endowment Fund (DEWEF) but this year, we want to ensure we do more than that. “Last year, we sponsored five youths to Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) but this year, we are doubling that figure by sponsoring ten members of our Rotaract club to the programme.
“we really want to embark on membership drive by ensuring we add not less than fifteen new members to the existing number this Rotary year to execute more projects.
At this investiture, we inducted five new members, while we also had four friends of Rotary who contributed money to the club.
“One of our star projects in the pipeline is donation of four stainless baby cots with mattresses and phototherapy light to General Hospital, Ile-Epo, Orile Agege, which we hope to execute as our maternal and child health project this Rotary year. In addition to that, we also have our signature project which we carry out every year which include empowerment of people and donation to widows” he said.
The Chairman, Installation Committee, Yomi Aderibigbe called for partnership with the club with a view to carrying out its numerous projects.
There were nine awardees at the event, which was chaired by Toye Ibiyemi while the Guest Speaker was Abayomi Alagbada. The Father of the Day was the Baale of New Oko Oba, Omololu Pedro.
