Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), and Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Moses Oladejo Oyediran, have backed the re-election bid of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State.

The monarchs lauded the governor for honouring his campaign promises.

Consequently, the duo said they had no reason not to support Oyetola’s ambition for a second and final term of four years in office to consolidate his people-oriented policies and programmes.

This is even as the governor declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state was ready for whatever mode of primary adopted by the national secretariat of the party for the February 19, 2022 contest.

Speaking in his palace, the Ooni applauded Governor Oyetola for walking the talk and sticking to his electoral promises.

Oba Ogunwusi, who was represented by the Obalufe of Ile-Ife, Oba Idowu Adediwura, said the Oduduwa kingdom was solidly behind the governor.

He appreciated the good works the governor has been doing to transform the state since his assumption of office, just as he expressed confidence that the people would reciprocate the gesture by returning him for a second term.

The foremost traditional ruler, who appealed to Oyetola not to be distracted, urged him to continue his good works.

He identified some intra-city roads that needed urgent intervention, saying fixing those highways would complement ongoing and completed infrastructure in the ancient town.

At the Ooni’s palace, Oyetola stated: “I am very happy to be here today (yesterday). I am very sure that if Baba Kabiyesi were to be fully aware that we were coming, he would have managed to be here. But I am glad that we met all of you here. I have listened to all you said in terms of other things you want us to do.

“We can’t joke with Ife in the scheme of things. We are very committed to ensuring all-around development in Ile-Ife and its environs. What actually brought us here is to seek for your permission and blessings before we go to field to address our party loyalists.”

Similarly, Oba Oyediran assured the governor that the entire Modakeke town would stop at nothing to re-elect him.
