Oyo employs 150 physically challenged persons as teachers

Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has begun distribution of appointment letters to Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) for teaching jobs in the state.

The 150 newly-recruited teachers were presented their appointment letters at a brief ceremony, yesterday, at the Commission’s office secretariat in Ibadan, the state capital.

Chairman of the commission, Pastor Akinade Alamu, said all necessary precautions had been taken to ensure that the slot for the people with special needs are not taken by able-bodied individuals.

Also speaking, the Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Administration, Pastor Idowu Ogedengbe, said the appointment was based on competence and qualification despite the physical challenges of the new recruits.

In a remark, the Executive Assistance to Governor Makinde on Disability Matters, Mr. Adekanmbi Ayodele, said the new recruits would be posted to schools that they could serve until their work environment is most conducive for them.
