Oyo govt yet to get Ladoja’s court summons, says APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state yesterday disclosed that the state government was yet to see the court papers of a libel suit threatened by Senator Rashidi Ladoja of the Accord Party (AP) on the alleged refund of N500m to the state coffers following his trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The party a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Wale Shadare described the action as an indication of deceit of the public and acceptance of guilt by the former governor

In January this year, the state government had alleged that Ladoja and some other persons, who are facing EFCC trial over alleged complicity in the siphon of the state funds in shares purchase deal, had allegedly refunded the sum of N500 million, as well as vehicles to the government.

But the former governor and asked government, through a letter written by his counsel, to withdraw the claim within seven days or be prepared for a legal battle.

The APC however said that neither the government nor the governor of the state had received any court summons, more than three months after they made the allegation against Ladoja.

“Those who know the former governor will attest to the fact that he is very adept at this game of make-believe. That seeming fury was political; Ladoja knows that he dared not go to any court or else, we will make a Bode George of him. He never intended to go to any court anyway; he merely wanted to sow the seed of doubt in the minds of the people that he wasn’t involved in the shady deal.

“Knowing that the people have a short memory, Ladoja exploited that weakness to his political advantage but the people are the losers because they are not afforded the opportunity of knowing the truth about this matter,” the APC said.

Meanwhile, Former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala has chided Governor Abiola Ajimobi for using the name of the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for his re-election campaign, saying that no amount of political gimmicks will save the governor from drowning.

Alao- Akala in a statement by his Director of public affairs, Oludare Ogunlana stated that General Buhari and Governor Ajimobi are two separate entities like “light and darkness” which can never work together.

Alao-Akala said “using Buhari’s name rather than his (Ajimobi) achievement is the greatest undoing a sinking governor can do to win at all cost”.

“Buhari neither awarded contract at questionable amount nor neglected meritocracy for mediocrity. The APC administration is anti-masses as it has inflicted pains on the people as against its campaign promises in 2011”.

Also, governorship candidate of the Accord Party (AP), Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja has promised to make the welfare of civil servants a priority.

Addressing the state pensioners on a solidarity visit at his Bodija residence, he noted that it is sad when the well being of civil servants is treated with levity, remarking that the civil service is the wheel that moves the policies of the government.

The former governor noted that when he first came into office in 2007, he met a pension arrears of over 18months, leave bonuses and allowances of over three and the half years and months of unpaid salaries, which he cleared within six months.

He hinted that with the way the present governor has mismanaged the states resources it is apparent that he will meet similar situation if elected as the governor of the state

He assured teachers and civil servants of better times ahead with the Accord government.

Ladoja also enjoined all civil servants and teachers in the state to vote massively for him and all AP candidates in the Saturday’s election
