Oyo House of Assembly to hold valedictory session Thursday

Makinde endorses Ogundoyin’s return as Speaker
Oyo State House of Assembly will on Thursday hold its valedictory session.

Speaker of the House, Adebo Ogundoyin, who disclosed this through his Special Assistant on Media, Oyetunji Oyekunle, said the plenary, scheduled to hold at the Hallowed Chamber, Parliament Building, Secretariat, Ibadan, would wrap up the Ninth Assembly.

The Speaker appreciated all members of the Ninth Assembly for their unwavering support, commitment and dedication to duties, adding that together, the lawmakers have made history as the best in the annals of legislature in the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Seyi Makinde, yesterday, endorsed the re-emergence of Ogundoyin as the Speaker of the Assembly.

He gave the hint during the commissioning of an electricity project at Olorunda Ogunsola Idi-Obi, Ona-Ara Local Council, stressing that those who did well in his Omituntun 1.0 should be given an opportunity in Omituntun 2.0.

Makinde said it was only logical to entrust another opportunity to people who were good team players just as the people of Oyo state had also given his administration an opportunity for a second term in office.

He said the Speaker did not only perform his statutory responsibilities satisfactorily but also played a stabilising role in the state polity.

Makinde, who acknowledged that though he was not a member of the House of Assembly and would support a democratic process of an emergence of a Speaker, said it remained his desire for Ogundoyin to return as a Speaker in the 10th Assembly.
