The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has pledged that it will prosecute staff members, vendors and contractors who engage in fraud and other underhand deals in the programme
A statement issued by the Interim Administrator of the programme, Col. Milland Dixon Dikio (rtd.), disclosed that the PAP discovered fraud perpetrated by some vendors and contractors.
“The office is currently investigating the activities to determine how widespread and the extent of connivance with internal elements in the programme.
“While the investigation is ongoing, we will not stop the payment of those whose contracts and documents have been verified and reconciled, as soon as the expected funds are released,” the statement reads.
The Guardian recalled that before the end of last year, the PAP paid no fewer than 104 contractors that were being owed and assured that the process would continue until all the contractors being owed were paid subject to the availability of funds.
“It must be noted that while the continuing process is evidence of the PAP’s commitment to its mandate, which covers the delegates, the investigations will continue to ascertain the issues that gave rise to the allegations.
“However, vendors and contractors whose contracts have not been revalidated and have not received approval to fund projects or been mobilised for their contracts are advised to suspend such contracts and maintain the status quo,” the statement added.
