National ex-officio member, North Central, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Yandev Amaabai, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Amaabai, who is a serving member of PDP National Executive Council (NEC), crossed over to the APC with some PDP leaders, including Benue State Vice Chairman, Zone B, Mbakorlumun Chia.

The Guardian gathered that the official detection ceremony is scheduled for Thursday January 4, 2024 at the NKST Primary School, Genyi, Gboko Local Council, with Governor Hyacinth Alia as Special Guest of Honour.

In separate interactions with The Guardian, some of the defectors said the major influence of the defections is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, who was Benue governor.

The SGF, who only a few days ago celebrated his 70th birthday in his hometown of Wannune in Benue, is also expected to attend tomorrow’s ceremony in person.
