PDP support groups faults Tinubu on suspension of NSIPA boss Halima Shehu

…urges reversal of decision, probe of Humanitarian Minister over alleged wrongdoings
A conglomerate of peoples democratic party (PDP) support groups have faulted the decision by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to suspend National Co-ordinator /Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Agency, NSIPA, Ms Halima Shehu.

Led by Comrade Obande Gideon, the group alleged that her removal from office orchestrated by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Beta Edu was precipitated by the desperate desire to cover up some misdoings in government.

The group called for the suspension of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Betta Edu to pave way for effective investigation.

Ithe group argued that it was wrong for President Tinubu to approve the suspension of Ms Hailma Shehu and immediately replaced her with someone from the south west geopolitical zone of the country.

Justifying their position, the group noted: “It is also very undeserving that Mr President would approve a suspension of his appointee without investigation or setting up investigative panel to unravel the allegations that must have led to the suspension.

“However, information at our disposal revealed that the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation may have question to answer as Ms Halima had worked with her for three years when she was the APC National Woman Leader and possibly influenced her appointment at NSIPA. What must have gone wrong?

“We want President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to quickly intervene and address Nigerians if truly there is a missing funds and how the funds got missing. Investigation will reveal the real culprits who is stealing or trying to steal public funds.

“We wish to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to look into the suspension of Ms Halima Shehu with a view to reverse it especially with the speedy appointment of Mr President’s kinsman Akindele Egbuwalo as her replacement which was recommended by Minister Betta Edu, a decision rather seen as hasty and a pointer to the fact that some information will be carpeted.

“This shows that the Honourable Minister has more question to answer as her actions are questionable and may cause many to think otherwise.

“This year is very fresh and the President should not allow himself to be seen on negative side. As opposition party members, we are ready to assist the government in doing things right.

“We shall make more revelations as Nigerians deserve to know all that concerns their wellbeing especially when it has to do with public funds.”
