Peace institute condemns killing of Army personnel in Delta community

Dr. Joseph Ochogwu

.Urges support for military to fish out perpetrators

Director General, the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, (IPCR), Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, has condemned recent killing of 16 army personnel including a commanding officer and two majors, describing the act as one perpetuating violence instead of peace.

“Citizens must give the military one hundred percent support as the Institution represents our national sovereignty,” he stated in a communique.

Dr. Ochogwu points that “To achieve the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President, all hands must be on deck to bring our long awaited hope to fruitfulness. But the killing of our Soldiers in Delta State is a new low if we have to tell ourselves the plain truth at this point in time, when almost all the regions are facing one form of insecurity or the other.

“Every Nigerian ought to rise and condemn the tragic loss of our galant personnel, who were mercilessly killed by some youths during a peace mission to Okuama Community in Delta State.

“The bravery and commitment of our soldiers exemplify the highest virtue of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice, and they should be supported to boost their morale to do more for the country.

The institute urge Nigerians to give 100 per cent support to the military in its effort to bring the perpetrators of the act to justice.
