Places your child should visit this long vacation

Parenting

School are not in session now with the third term activities closed. As a parent, you either have a two-hour food request from your children or you are already talking more than you would, says Tomilola Olatunde, a stay at home/homeschooling mum. For her, one way to reduce thesedemands is to take them out and the next question would be: Where do I take the kids to this holiday?

In this piece,  Olatunde lists budget-friendly interesting places children can have much fun. According to her, budget-friendly locations that will cost N2,000 or less include:

National Museum: Do you know that the National Museum in Lagos has been renovated? It now has a very lovely playground and your children can learn about history, culture, see artifacts and have fun all below N2000 at the museum. Just be sure to hold cash as they don’t use POS. It’s located at Onikan in Ikoyi, opposite MUSON Centre.

Free Parks around Lagos: Enjoy some outdoor fun at the parks around Lagos and for free. Pack up the picnic mats and some snacks and enjoy the sun visit JTT Park Alausa, Abayomi Finnih Park, Kanu Ndubisi Park Alausa, Peace Park Ojota, etc.

Lekki Conservation Centre: Do you want your chilren to see some animals in their natural habitat or just appreciate nature, see some fishes and enjoy their newly added playground, Lekki Conservation Centre located in Lekki Penninsula is the place to go.

Visit an art gallery: Help your children expand their creativity by introducing them to art. Most art galleries are free to enter. I would recommend @Tca_gallery (1004 VI) or @lviartgallery (Lekki Phase1).
Lufasi Park: Just after Lagos Business School is this gem for nature lovers. If you want to give your kids an adventure, this is the place to go. It’s a long walk and be sure to take your sunscreen, lots of water and snacks. You can also set up your mat anywhere in the park. Cost is N500 per child and N1000 per adult.

Railway compound: Learn about the history of our railway corporation, have a nice picnic in the beautiful garden in the heart of Yaba, located at Jaekel House, Federal Road, Railway Compound, Ebute Metta.

For places that cost N3,500 and above, Olatunde, who is helping parents give their children wholesome indoor and outdoor experiences through her platform @cuddlesblog liststhe following:
Mindscape Museum: One hidden gem that you can’t explore fully in one day. Located in Lekki, Lagos,
it is truly an experience everyone should give their children at least once.

Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative: With their work in wildlife conservation, they have the animals in their facility at 10 Emmanuel Iroabuchi Street, Thera-Annex Estate, Off Lekki-Epe Express Way, Lagos. You can go to learn more about their work, see some rescued animals and plants.

Lagos Fire House: Contrary to what you might think, we have very loving and accommodating fire fighters around Lagos and you can walk in and have a conversation with them to bring your kids to see what they do. It is free.

Skating: Try something different this holiday with your kids. Learn to skate @skatecity_ng in Maryland mall and @summerandskyskating in Sangotedo.
