The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), on Saturday, called on the Federal Government to seriously consider an overhaul of the security architecture in Plateau State to stem the tide of recurring killings in the state.

The party made the appeal following the reported fresh attacks in communities in Mangu and Bokkos local government areas of Plateau State leading to loss of lives.

NNPP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, said the spate of killings in Plateau State was a national nightmare and embarrassment as the state was fast becoming a killing field.

The party while commiserating with the people in the affected communities and Plateau State in general, asked the security agencies, particularly those in the intelligence unit, to do more by unraveling such killing plots before they are carried out.

The party noted the efforts of the security agencies so far but noted that more needed to be done with greater support from the Federal Government to seriously tackle the recurring killing of people in Plateau which seems to have defied solutions.

Johnson said: “It is mind-boggling to hear about the incessant attacks and killings in Plateau State which is now a national embarrassment. So many families suffer from these attacks and the situation looks to defy solutions.

“The security agencies seem to be doing their best, but what is obvious is that there is a need to tweek the security architecture in the state especially for the intelligence units to do more proactively so that these attacks are nipped in the bud and thus curtail the wanton bloodbath in the state.”
