Operatives of Lagos State Police Command have nabbed 32-year-old Abubakar Yahaya Ibrahim and two others for illegal possession of firearms at the Igbo Elerin area of Lagos State.
Ibrahim, alongside others, were accosted by police officers at about 2:00 a.m.
Spokesperson for the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said, though all three fled, Abubakar was eventually apprehended and searched. He said: “Found in his bag were a locally fabricated double-barrel firearm, one expended, and one live cartridge.
Investigation is ongoing.
“The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, therefore, gives assurances that the security architecture will be closely monitored and reviewed as required 6o sustain the existing peace in Lagos State.
“The command equally enjoins everyone to be security conscious and vigilant, and encourages the reporting of any untoward incident or happening to the nearest police station or call the commands control room.”
