Nigeria police

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested 25-year-old Praise Ebube, a phone accessories seller in Obalende, Lagos, and 21-year-old Ogbonna Michael, a factory worker at Billings Way, Oregun, for theft.

The suspects were arrested by a team of RRS officers during a night patrol on February 20, 2024. They had snatched a lady’s phone and handbag and attempted to flee the scene but a quick response by the officers prevented them.

Also, the Lagos State Police Command arrested two persons for allegedly abducting a female student in the Ikotun area of the state. The suspects are: Adamaka Chinyere and Bolajoko Haruna.

Confirming the development, spokesperson for the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, advised parents to caution their children on the dangers of following strangers. He said the quick response by the police and the community saved the student.

Hundeyin said the Ikotun Police Division received information from community members about the presence of people moving around their neighbourhood suspiciously.

“The police moved in discreetly, quickly enough to rescue a female secondary school student they had tricked into their car and abducted.

“The suspects were arrested and their tinted Toyota Camry impounded. They are to be arraigned at the conclusion of investigation. The student has been reunited with her family,” he added.
