Police arrest mastermind of Abuja-Kaduna train attack

Nigeria Police Force (NPF), yesterday, announced the arrest of one Ibrahim Abdullahi, one of the suspects involved in the violent attack on the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train in March 2022.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed this during a press briefing in Kaduna State.

The police spokesperson stated that Abdullahi, also known as “Mandi,” was involved in the abduction of students from Greenfield University in 2021.

He also revealed that 48 AK47 rifles were found during his arrest, and investigations were underway to determine his weapons’ sponsor and supplier.


The arrest, he said, underscored the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack by apprehending individuals involved in the criminal attacks.

The attack happened in March 2022. At the news conference in Kaduna, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the suspect was arrested at the Abuja-Kaduna Road flyover by Rido Junction.

Meanwhile, the Kano State Police Command has disclosed that a large percentage of arms and ammunition being recovered from criminal suspects were imported from neighbouring countries.

Besides, the command said over 3,000 kidnapping, banditry and criminal suspects had been apprehended and prosecuted in the last one year.

The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, stated this yesterday while reeling out achievements of the command under his watch within one year.
