Police arrest nine suspected bandits in Imo

Operatives of Imo State Police Command codenamed: “Operation restore peace” have arrested nine suspected bandits terrorising the state.

Spokesperson for the Command, Henry Okoye, in a statement, yesterday, said the commander of the gang that operates in Mbaise / Ngor Okpala axis of the state, was also, arrested, while some fetish items, arms and ammunition, including AK 47 rifles and magazines, 190 rounds of ammunition, pistols, among others were recovered in the operation.

Okoye said investigating efforts are on top gear to arrest other syndicate members at large and make them face the full wrath of the law.


Recall that five male police officers and a couple were shot dead by some gunmen, who recently invaded a canteen at the Okpala Junction when the officers on patrol were eating food.

Before then, five operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), also, on patrol around the area, were ambushed and killed by gun men.

Last year, a female police sergeant, who was among the highway patrol team, was also killed by bandits around the same junction.
