Police arrest suspect who stabbed man to death in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested one Tijani Uzairu in connection with the murder of a mechanic known as Chukwu Chukwudi at the Kugbo mechanic village in Abuja.

The arrest of the suspect was confirmed in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh.

It was gathered that Uzairu and four other suspects, who are currently on the run, brought a vehicle for repairs. An argument occurred which led to the deceased being stabbed in the neck with a dagger by one of the suspects.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, police operatives from Karu Division mobilised to the scene where one Tijani Uzairu, who accompanied the other suspects, was arrested and the victim was rushed to the hospital where the doctor on duty confirmed him dead,” the statement read.


“The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, has ordered that a discreet investigation be conducted into the matter, as normalcy has since been restored. He also advises members of the public to shun all acts of violence, noting that the consequences are mostly dire and regrettable.”

In May, a security guard, identified as David Isaac, attached to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Nkpor Uno in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, allegedly stabbed a teenager and member of the church to death.

According to reports, the incident happened inside the church premises at about 8 pm. It was learned that the security guard, under the employ of a private security company, pierced a dagger through the neck of the victim during a scuffle, and he was confirmed dead when he was rushed to a nearby hospital.


Also in May, a young man was stabbed to death in Magama-Gumau, Toro LGA of Bauchi State.

The young man was said to have been stabbed with a sharp object, which some said was a dagger knife while others said it was a ram horn.

According to reports, there was an argument among a group of young men, including the deceased, towards the end of Ramadan on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, which led to the incident.
