Police arrest suspects allegedly responsible for kidnappings in FCT

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, in synergy with the Guards Brigade, Department of State Services (DSS), and hunters have stormed kidnappers’ camps at Gidan Dogo and Kweti Forest (which border the FCT) in Kaduna State

Four suspects were arrested. They are: Yahaya Abubakar, 25, of Mpape; Mohammed Mohammed, 32, of Zuba area; an ex-convict, Umar Aliyu, 20; and Nura Abdullahi, 32, also an ex-convict.

The suspects reportedly confessed to being members of a syndicate called ‘Mai One Million’, allegedly responsible for a series of kidnappings and other crimes in the FCT and its environs.

The operation triggered a shootout between the bandits and the security operatives. This forced the bandits to flee while their victims were rescued. The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said: “The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families and loved ones.”
