Police arrest three for arms supply to bandits

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested three persons suspected to be gunrunners who supply arms and ammunition to bandits operating from forest reserve areas in the state.


Police spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu who made this known, identified the suspects to include Haladu Isah, 29, Abubakar Ahmed, 26, and Adamu Ba’ude, 37, who is from Niger Republic.

Aliyu said the trio were arrested on April 6, at about 8 pm along Dankama road, in Kaita Local Government Area.

“The Katsina State Police Command has succeeded in arresting the trio of one Haladu Isah, aged 29 years of Tsaskiya village, Safana LGA; Abubakar Ahmed, aged 26 years of Shaiskawa, Barhim, Katsina; and one Adamu Musa Ba’ude, aged 37 years of Niger Republic, suspected notorious gunrunners supplying arms and ammunition to bandits hibernating in Katsina forest.


“On April 6th, 2024, at about 2000 hrs, an information was received at Kaita divisional headquarters on the nefarious activities of the trio.

“Promptly, the DPO Kaita swung into action, where the suspects were successfully traced and arrested along Dankama road, Kaita LGA.

“Upon instant search, the suspects were found in possession of one million two hundred and three thousand naira (1,203,000.00k), only suspected to be meant for the payment of the ammunitions.


“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence, stating that they were sent by one Harisu, now at large, a suspected notorious bandits’ kingpin terrorising Safana LGA and its environs to purchase the ammunition from one Sa’idu Ahmadu, of Niger Republic, now at large, and convey same back to the kingpin.

“Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects as the investigation proceeds.”

Aliyu also said the command succeeded in arresting a suspected kidnapper, one Nafi’u Musa, 24, following a complaint received from one of his victims.


“The Katsina Police Command has succeeded in arresting one Nafi’u Musa, age 24 years, of Rinjin Baushe village, Bindawa LGA, Katsina State, a suspected notorious kidnapper.

“The suspect was arrested following a complaint received through one of his victims. Upon receipt of the report, detectives swung into action, where they successfully traced and arrested the suspect.


“The suspect’s modus operandi was to call victims on the phone, claiming to be a kidnapper, and demanding that they pay a certain amount of money to a designated bank account or risk being kidnapped or a family member.

“In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence. Investigation is still ongoing.”
