The police in Kwara State have arrested three suspects in connection with the abduction, killing, and dismembering of the body of one Musibau Aliu, a commercial tricyclist in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Aliu was reported missing by his younger brother, Olanrewaju Saliman, last Friday, at the Area G police station.

However, his remains were discovered in an uncompleted building in the Oko-Olowo area.

The Guardian learnt that Aliu’s head, two wrists, private part and buttocks were missing when the family discovered his body after days of search.

Saliman, in the company of policemen from Area G, identified the body. It was also identified by Gafari Imam, the chairman of the Tricycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Idiose-Alore/Isale-Banni Ilorin.

Imam said: “It was on Saturday morning that his family and colleagues came to tell me that he had been missing since Friday. We held a prayer today (yesterday) at his family’s house for Almighty Allah to expose whoever was behind this dastardly act as soon as possible. I have never experienced such in my life.”

A police statement said the owner of the building where Aliu’s body was found reported the matter at the Oloje police station.

“The police have detained the owner of the building where he was found, and one of the deceased’s friends,” Imam said.

Confirming the development, spokesperson for Kwara State Police Command, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, said following swift investigation, three suspects were apprehended in connection with the crime.

She listed them as: Abdullahi Ibrahim of the Medina area, Ilorin; Ismaila Ajirerin of Akata Compound; and Adeola Adeosun of Omo Compound in the Eruda area.

The police promised to prosecute the perpetrators, adding: “Investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing with a view to ensuring justice.”

MEANWHILE, a 17-year-old boy, Ojibe Chibueze, has allegedly committed suicide in the Abijo area of Lagos State.

Chibueze’s death came less than five days after one Folasade jumped into a river in the Igando area of the state.

The deceased’s sister, Cynthia, reported the matter to the Elemoro Police Division. She said her brother came back from work at about 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, took some money, and went out.

Spokesperson for Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the complainant told officers that thereafter, she received a phone call from a neighbour, saying that her brother was seen lying dead at Abijo Bus Stop.

She rushed to the scene and reportedly found her brother’s lifeless body alongside a bottle of an insecticide, which he presumably drank.

“On receipt of the report, detectives of the division visited the scene. They saw foam issuing from his mouth and nostrils. The bottle of insecticide was recovered as an exhibit. The remains of the deceased were removed and deposited at the mortuary of Epe General Hospital for autopsy and preservation, while investigation is ongoing,” he said.
