The Edo State Police Commissioner, CP Funsho Adegboye, has ensured the handover of a 4-year-old girl identified as Sarah in the viral social media post to the care of the Commissioner for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) for Edo State, Christabel Elawu.

The police recently arrested Sarah’s 27-year-old father, Musa Suleiman, following a public outcry over disturbing images circulating on social media.

The photos shared on an Instagram account under the handle “@officialsarah_ig”, depicted Sarah in inappropriate and suggestive poses.

A spokesman for the Nigerian police force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that a preliminary investigation further revealed that Suleiman is the father of Sarah.

Adejobi said that in response to the urgent need for protection and care of the child involved, Adegboye, mni, oversaw a handover on May 13, 2024, at approximately 3:00 PM in his office at the State Headquarters in Benin City.

He also revealed that Suleiman remains under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department to ascertain the full extent of his involvement in this distressing situation.

The police spokesman, however, commended the public for their outrage and urged continued vigilance.

“We urge Nigerians to always say something when they see something,” he added.
