Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested 27-year-old Oluchi Nzemechi for allegedly stabbing her lover and Internet fraud partner, Kelechi Nzemechi, 31, to death with a kitchen knife.
Police spokesperson in the state, Henry Okoye, said Oluchi, who hails from Uzoagba, Ikeduru Local Council, confessed to killing her lover after the deceased held back her share of 250 million Indonesian Rupiah fraudulently obtained from a victim.
Oluchi also accused the deceased of beating her constantly, despite the love she had for him. She claimed she had been taking care of him since 2019 when they started their affair; rented a house for both, donated her phone to the deceased for the Internet fraud business, and gave birth to a child for him.
Okoye said: “Operatives of the Imo State Police Command, through painstaking investigation, have arrested a 27-year-old young lady, named Oluchi Nzemechi, of Uzoagba in Ikeduru Local Council of Imo State, for stabbing her partner, Kelechi Nzemechi, ‘m’, 31, to death.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, admitting that her lover lured her into Internet fraud (also known as ‘Yahoo Yahoo’). That on June 2, she had a heated argument with him for failing to give her a cut of an alleged 250 million Rupiah, which they fraudulently obtained from a victim in Indonesia. During the argument, she used a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the upper part of his body.
“After killing the victim, the assailant wrote a threat note, promising to unleash terror on the family of the deceased, and dropped it on his corpse. The suspect further revealed that in a bid to cover up her criminal act, she swiftly wrote on a piece of paper, ‘You think you can eat my money and go free. I am baba for the boys. I am coming for your wife and your child, including your family.’ She placed it on the lifeless body of the victim and ran away from the house.”
Okoye added: “Effort is being intensified to recover the alleged 250 million Indonesia Rupiah for a possible return to the owner. The suspect is currently undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and will certainly be arraigned in court.”
