Police nab hotelier over alleged murder in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested the Chief Executive Officer of Noble Ocean Hotel, Noble Iteme, for allegedly killing his 31-year-old security guard, Sunday Godstime, in Abraka, Ethiope East Council of the state.

The Guardian gathered that the suspect and some of his workers beat the deceased to a pulp when they discovered that he could not engage some armed robbers, who invaded and robbed his hotel unchallenged.

Sources said Godstime’s failure to give genuine reason about his whereabouts when the robbers reportedly visited the hotel resulted in the beating.

It was gathered that the deceased was found bleeding while the hotelier immediately invited the police to arrest him, but it was too late as he died before the arrival of the police.

The police arrested the hotel owner to give account of the incident. When contacted, the state’s police spokesman, Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident. He said the suspect was currently in their custody at the police headquarters in Asaba.

Edafe said: “The victim was accused of stealing handsets in the hotel. While they were trying to make him confess, he was beating to a pulp with machete cuts on his head. He died at the hospital.” He said the hotel owner was arrested because he initiated the attack on the deceased.
