Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Ahmed Mohammed, a resident of Borno State, who allegedly stole a car to pay for an accommodation for his estranged wife after remarrying her.

Spokesperson for the command, Ahmed Wakil, in a statement yesterday, said the command got credible information on February 24, which it acted upon, and one Ahmed Mohammed, 29, a resident of Polo High-Court, Borno State, was apprehended.

According to him, the suspect was arrested at the Bayan Gari area of Bauchi State, alongside the stolen vehicle (white Toyota Highlander) with registration number: ABC-65PK.

Wakil said: “A discreet investigation into the matter has revealed that the suspect was employed as a driver by a company in Maiduguri, Borno State (Damuli Investment Company Ltd.) owned by his secondary school classmate.

“It was further uncovered that the accused, Ahmed Mohammed, fled with the car to Bauchi with intent to sell it for N2 million and use the proceeds to pay house rent and welcome his estranged wife back home.
