Police neutralise bandits, rescue abducted victims in Katsina

Katsina State Police Command said it neutralised three suspected notorious bandits and rescued several women abducted by the armed hoodlums .

In a statement, its spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Aliyu said the incident occurred on Friday evening at about 7.23pm in Duya village, SabuwaLocal Council.

“Katsina Police Command, under the leadership of CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, has succeeded in thwarting a kidnapping attempt, rescuing all kidnapped victims, and neutralising three suspected notorious bandits.


“On June 7, 2024, at about 1923 hrs, information was received at the Sabuwa Divisional Police Headquarters that armed bandits in their numbers, wielding dangerous weapons, attacked Duya village, Maibakko ward, Sabuwa Local Council kidnapping a number of women.

“Upon receipt of the report, promptly, the DPO Sabuwa Divisional Headquarters, CSP Aliyu Mustapha, in collaboration with members of the vigilante, mobilised a team of operatives to the scene.

“Noticing the presence of the team, the bandits opened fire on the team, with the team responding gallantly and successfully thwarted the kidnapping attempt including rescuing all the kidnapped victims.

“In the course of scanning the scene, the bodies of three neutralised suspected bandits were recovered.”

The CP, while commending the operatives for their exceptional display of bravery and gallantry, reiterated the command’s commitment towards ensuring the safety and security of the good people of the state.
