Oyo State Police have arrested the former Chairman of the Park Management System (PMS), Lamidi Mukaila, also known as Auxiliary, for his alleged involvement in a series of armed robbery, kidnapping and murder cases.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Adebola, on Thursday, paraded Auxiliary before some members of the press.

He said the ex-motor park boss was arrested by the Department of State Services penultimate Tuesday at his Olodo residence in Ibadan, the state capital, months after the police had declared him wanted.

Adebola stated that Auxiliary would face charges in court.

He said, “Discreet intelligence-led search commenced for the sacked PMS chieftain with the help of technology, collaborative efforts with sister services and community policing, many locations were identified, traced and combed for months until his recent arrest in a concerted effort with our sister services.

“Exhibits recovered in his possession at his Diamond Hotel residence around Alakia-Isebo Egbeda under Egbeda Local Government Area at the time include one AK-47 Rifle, four AK-47 magazines, 84 live AK-47 Ammunitions, 19 pump action rifles, one Beretta pistol, seven cut-to-size guns, one English made Barrel Gun.

“724 live cartridges, 25 cutlasses, Seven Jack knives, 33 mobile phones, one Samsung laptop, charms, one Mazda Bus, one Toyota Sienna, cash sum of N3,450,000.00. Moving forward, the suspect would be charged to court for offenses committed.”

The commissioner expressed his gratitude to the public for providing information that aids in curbing crime in the state.

He further stressed the police’s commitment to tackling criminal activity and preventing a return to a lawless past.

The Guardian reports that Auxiliary’s arrest and parade come 35 months after he was accused of having a hand in the murder of Rahmon Azeez. The Lead City University alumnus was killed on June 16, 2021 during a clash between mobile phone sellers and members of the state’s PMS at the Iwo Road area of Ibadan.
