Police present N166.2m to 86 families of deceased officers

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) yesterday presented Cheques to the first set of 86 families of deceased Police officers.


While presenting the cheaques, Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke said though the money cannot be equated with the lost of lives but it was done to provide support for the families of the deceased.

“We all know the nature of our job, such that one don’t know if he will return home when leaving the house. That is the job we signed for.
“These our fallen colleagues sacrificed, worked with passion and lost their lives at the cause of the job.
“The Police authority and the government of Nigeria deemed it necessary to compensate the families even though the amount cannot be equated with the lost of lives but this is done to provide support for the families of the deceased. And the government is presenting a total of N166, 223,805 to 86 families of our colleagues who are not more.

“The type of issuance is group life insurance, Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Insurance Scheme that covers the period of 2021 and 2022.”
