Police probe death of physically challenged man in Ogun

The Police in Ogun State have commenced investigation into the death of one Adetunji Ajayi, ‘m’, 62, by unknown assailants, who gained entrance into his home and murdered him.


Consequently, the police have sought information from the public to unravel the ‘mysterious’ death.
The Guardian gathered that the unfortunate incident happened on Wednesday at about 1500hrs, while family members of the deceased were out for their various daily businesses, leaving the physically-challenged husband and father at home.

According to a police source, his family members at the close of work, on arrival, met the late Ajayi lifeless in the pool of his own blood.

Confirming the development, yesterday, spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, Superintendent of Police (SP), Omolola Odutola, said the police headquarters on July 4, 2023, received a report of machete to death of one Ajayi by unknown assailants, who gained entrance into the home of the deceased and murdered him.

She said: “The Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) of Imasayi, the police jurisdiction covering the area where the dastardly act occurred, upon investigation observed that the buzzline- mobile Customer Relationship Management (CRM) app- of the deceased was taken away. He was taken to the General Hospital, Ilaro, where he was certified dead, while his corpse was deposited at the hospital for further examinations.

“Ogun State Police Command has no firm lead about the reason behind these extreme viciousness.

“However, the Commissioner of Police has been briefed and he condemned the senseless killing.

“He also assured the families that the killers and blood thirsty criminals would regret their actions, as they will definitely not go scot free, but justice must be done in exposing perpetrators of this violence.

“Ogun State Police Command headquarters sympathises with the family of the deceased for their misfortune and painful loss, and further assures that investigations are at double quick time to unravel perpetrators of the dastardly act.”
