The Bauchi State Police Command has recovered four firearms buried near a river along Gida Dubu in Ningi Local Council of the state.

Spokesperson for the command, Ahmed Wakil, said the illegal firearms were wrapped in a polythene bag near River Chika-Chika, about 200 metres from the Ningi-Kano road.

He said: “The command, through its intelligence gathering initiatives, has recovered a cache of firearms hidden underground. Upon receiving the report, the operatives attached to Ningi Police Divisional headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer, cordoned off the area and recovered the following assorted firearms: three AK-47 rifles, one AK-49 rifle, and nine empty magazines.”

Wali said the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed Musa, urged the operatives to sustain the intelligence-led policing to achieve objectives of the command.

He charged residents to see policing, communal safety, and security as a joint mandate by providing useful information that will aid the police in keeping them safe.
