Two persons have been rescued by the Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) after they were kidnapped by bandits.

FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh confirmed the incident.

It was gathered that gunmen believed to be seven in number, stormed the area between 1:00 am and 2:00 am and took away the two residents.

The gunmen were shooting sporadically causing residents to wake up and started calling the police.

According to the Command, there was an exchange of gunfire between the police and the suspects which made them abandon their victims and flee into the bush.

Adeh said the rescued victims would soon be reunited with their families and that efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspects.
