Police screen 22,000 Bauchi applicants

Bauchi State Police Command has commenced screening of over 22,000 applicants for the 2022 constable recruitment process.

At the Police Training School in Bauchi on Wednesday, the applicants from across the 20 local government areas were seen with their various required documents, dressed in white T-shirts and shorts in queues. The applicants are screened at three stages of the physical scrutinisation.

Officials from the 20 LGAs were seen checking the certificate of the indigene, while officials of the Police Command were carrying out physical body checks to measure height, flat legs, chest size, and others

Also, representatives of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Police Service Commission, and Federal Character Commission were there to ensure applicants’ documents are in line with the requirements for the recruitment.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, said that part of the requirements is the applicant’s height, five credits in O’level results, evidence of good character from a traditional ruler, national identity card, certificate of origin, declaration of age, guarantor’s form among others.

While speaking with journalists at the screening venue in Yelwa, the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed Musa, said “All people have been warned especially those that will partake in the recruitment process that they shun corruption; nobody is allowed to even come around with money. It is going to be perfected to ensure that we get the best for the Nigerian Police.

“The recruitment process is better imagined, the need and desire of the Nigerian Police Force of having more personnel.

“As you can see here in Bauchi, the complaint always has been that there is inadequate manpower but now the Federal Government has taken the bull by the horn by trying to improve on the strength of the personnel of the Nigerian Police Force.

“This is a welcome development and we are going to support the Federal Government and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission to ensure that the whole process is corrupt-free and straightforward.

He said that the process would be concluded on January 29th, 2024.
