Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, said it was yet to receive a formal complaint or identity of the lady who alleged a N500,000 extortion by officers at Mile 2, in Kosofe Local Council of the state.

In a video posted yesterday, the lady said she was in a cab when the police officers stopped and searched her, and found a pill in her bag. She said the officers accused her of prostitution. She, however, told them that she was not a prostitute, and hadn’t used the bag in a while. She said: “They threatened to call my parents, saying when they find such an item with ladies, they often called their parents. I became nervous.

“They ordered me to enter their bus. They had guns. They accused me of smoking and using abortion pills. They said they were going to take me to their station if I didn’t settle. They ended up taking the N500,000 that I had with me. This happened around Mile 2, Lagos.”

But when contacted, spokesperson for the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said: “We have been trying to locate her but nobody is providing information about her. We can’t do anything until we get information. They should reach out to us with useful information.”
