2027: Yilwatda, APC governors parley, make plans for 2027

Ahead of the 2027 poll, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and chief executive of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, yesterday, met with National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The progressive governors have also declared the ruling party as the only viable political party in the country, dismissing others as non-existent.
Uzodinma declared this when he, alongside his Kogi State counterpart, Usman Ododo, joined the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to inspect the party’s data centre at its national secretariat as part of measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the membership electronic registration exercise.

Uzodinma, who fielded questions from reporters, acknowledged that progress had been achieved on the move to ensure the construction of a permanent structure for the party in Abuja in line with the directive of President Bola Tinubu.

The governor, who described Yilwatda as a man full of energy and intelligence, assured that he would enjoy a smooth working relationship with members of the forum.

He said: “We are here on a walking visit. We came to monitor and evaluate the extent of the e-registration exercise, what has been done, and we have inspected and conducted a trip round the facilities, and we are highly impressed with what we saw and also confident that at any moment from now, our e-registration exercise will start in full force.”

Asked on the claim by the coalition of opposition politicians under the aegis of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that it would be disastrous to have the APC-led administration in power after the 2027 poll, he stated: “You called it a claim, it is their claim, not our claim. I know that there are only two parties in Nigeria, the APC and others.”

Yilwatda expressed happiness over the cordial relationship between the party leadership and the PGF, adding that it would surely endear the party to the vast majority of Nigerians.
