APC can’t win Kogi without Yahaya Bello’s support, Gegu warns

Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Bashir Gegu, has warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) may lose grip of Kogi State in the 2027 general elections if President Bola Tinubu fails to carry along former Governor Yahaya Bello.

Speaking at a political gathering in Kogi Local Government Area, Gegu described Bello as the architect of the state’s current political structure and a key pillar of the APC’s strength in the state.

In a post shared on his Facebook page, Gegu said, “If former Governor Yahaya Bello is not carried along, APC cannot win Kogi State. That is the plain truth.”

He dismissed criticism trailing a recent rally in Lokoja, stressing that the event was not about power play but an expression of gratitude to President Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for their leadership.
“The rally was a show of appreciation, not a protest. But let no one make the mistake, without Yahaya Bello, there’s no APC victory in Kogi,” he maintained.

The commissioner credited Bello for laying the foundation for political stability and increased federal presence in Kogi, noting that his influence still cuts across all districts.
