Ganduje can’t be harassed over graft charge, says aide
Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment to National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oliver Okpala, has faulted calls for the arrest of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, stating that the Kano ex-governor would not be intimidated by “anti-corruption imposters.”
This comes following a petition, co-signed by Dr Johnson Nebechi and Umar Ideresu, the convener and spokesperson for the National Anti-Corruption Alliance (NACA), which requests the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Ganduje.
In a statement yesterday, Okpala argued that the petitioners were disregarding the rule of law by raising “spurious issues” pending in court.
He said: “The attention of the Public Enlightenment Unit of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman has been drawn to a report claiming that a coalition of 51 anti-corruption groups has formally petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seeking the arrest and prosecution of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.”
