The Niger State Coordinators Forum has begun a nationwide mobilisation drive targeting more than 35,000 non-governmental organisations, political pressure groups, and associations across the country to rally support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s second-term bid.
Chairman of the Forum, Dr. Umar Mohammed Dyadya, announced the initiative at a press briefing in Minna, explaining that the effort follows Governor Bago’s public declaration of himself as the “self-appointed Director General” of Tinubu’s 2027 campaign during a recent stakeholders’ meeting.
“We must return to the grassroots and ensure that the Governor’s declaration is pursued with vigour, communication, determination, and zeal to succeed,” Dr. Dyadya said.
He stated that the mobilisation strategy includes opening an online registration portal for NGOs, associations, political parties, market women, and individuals who support Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. In addition, the forum plans to embark on a nationwide grassroots campaign covering all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to Dyadya, the drive will be self-funded, though a crowdfunding platform will be introduced to expand participation. He added that a technical political mobilisation committee has been established to coordinate strategies and ensure that the campaign message penetrates rural communities.
The forum also sought to dispel speculation that the effort was tied to securing a vice-presidential slot for Governor Bago.
“Our mission is clear. We are working wholeheartedly for President Tinubu’s re-election and for Governor Bago’s second-term mandate. At no time has our principal discussed any interest in being vice president,” Dyadya clarified.
Highlighting why Tinubu merits another term, Dyadya cited federal projects such as the proposed Calabar coastal road, which will link the South-South, South-East, and parts of the South-West; the Sokoto–Badagry highway, with 126 kilometres passing through Niger State; and Tinubu’s investment drive in Brazil targeting agriculture for food self-sufficiency.
He also listed Governor Bago’s achievements, including over 1,000 kilometres of road construction, commissioning of four flyovers in Minna, establishment of three universities in two years, large-scale youth empowerment programmes, housing projects, and a ₦1 trillion MoU with Dangote Group for farm inputs.
In his contribution, Umar Mohammed Kawu, Secretary of the Forum and Chairman of NUPENG, said Governor Bago had also declared a state of emergency on education, with plans to renovate, reconstruct, and rebuild more than 500 schools across Niger State.
The Forum stressed that the mobilisation effort was a “clarion call” for stakeholders, politicians, and Nigerians to join in ensuring continuity in governance and development.
