I’ll identify with ordinary people whether I win or lose, says ex-PDP Rep candidate

Former House of Representatives candidate for Abeokuta South under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Toyin Amuzu, has reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots advocacy, declaring that he will continue to stand with the people regardless of electoral outcomes.

Amuzu, a traditional titleholder and known grassroots mobiliser, made these remarks during a community engagement with youth leaders and stakeholders in Sagamu.

Expressing concern over the growing poverty rate and worsening living conditions in the country, Amuzu said his connection to the people remains strong, emphasizing that he would not abandon them, win or lose.

“Our first commitment is always to the suffering masses. We must never lose sight of those who look up to us for solutions—the traders, the farmers, the unemployed youth, and the vulnerable in our society,” he said.

He also pledged his support for the PDP candidate for the Remo Federal Constituency, Hon. Bola Oluwole, urging constituents to remain loyal to the party. Despite not holding public office, Amuzu emphasized that his political philosophy is anchored in compassion, justice, and accountability.

Amuzu acknowledged the rising frustration among Nigerians amid soaring inflation, hunger, insecurity, and a declining standard of living.

“I know the people are confused—and rightfully so. They ask, ‘How can we be suffering and still praise our oppressors?’ I hear you, and I will continue to be your voice. We may not have all the answers today, but the truth is always with the people,” he stated.

He stressed that the nation’s current challenges demand honest leadership and fearless advocacy, not silence or complicity.

“We will continue to be the voice of the people, no matter the noise around us,” he affirmed.
