INEC, IPAC commit to credible elections in Cross River

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Cross River chapter, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have pledged to enhance collaboration to ensure a robust and transparent electoral system.

This was part of the outcome of a meeting held at the INEC’s state office in Calabar on Wednesday, signalling a renewed commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process.

Both parties agreed to maintain continuous dialogue on electoral reforms, focusing on revising laws and adopting best practices to improve the integrity of future elections.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a comprehensive voter registration drive, targeting a record number of registered voters. This comes in the wake of over 1.3 million online registrations recorded within just one week, demonstrating a strong public interest ahead of future polls.

IPAC and INEC also outlined strategies to ensure election preparedness, emphasising transparency, security, and fairness throughout the electoral process. The voter registration exercise is slated to run for one year, ending on August 30, 2026.

The meeting underlines the dedication of both IPAC and INEC to advancing democracy in Nigeria and safeguarding the credibility of elections in Cross River State and beyond.
