More govs to join APC for Tinubu’s re-election, says Yilwatda

• Sulaiman-Ibrahim pledges women’s support for Tinubu’s reelection

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has said that more governors will defect to the party ahead of the 2027 general election to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Speaking during the Bayelsa State chapter expanded stakeholders meeting and endorsement of the President Bola Tinubu in Yenagoa yesterday, Yilwatda, stated that because Tinubu has done well in governance, more governors and Senators have abandoned their parties and joined the APC to ensure that the President wins overwhelmingly in 2027.

Yilwatda, represented by the APC Deputy National Chairman, South, Emma Eneukwu, stated that Tinubu is on the move to take Nigeria to a greater height.

He recalled that just a few months ago, the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwore, and the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, dumped their former party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the APC to support the President’s re-election.

Yilwatda said: “Our doors are still open, more governors are still moving into our party, more personalities are still moving in, senators, and members of the House of Representatives, because of the calibre, integrity and the output of the person we make president.

“Other people are running around trying to challenge the President in the 2027 election, but, of course, you know, when you have a lion and other small animals are barking, the lion doesn’t even take notice of them; he goes about his duties properly; that is what the President is doing.”

Also speaking, the former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, stated that the APC in Bayelsa State is very united ahead of the general election.

Meanwhile, some key leaders of the state chapter of the party were conspicuously absent as the party endorsed Tinubu for the 2027 Presidential election.

Among them were the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, the governorship candidate of the party during the 2019 governorship election, David Lyon, and some key leaders loyal to them.

It was gathered that the internal wrangling rocking the party in the state, which led to the suspension of Lokpobiri and other members loyal to him, seems unending, as both Lokpobiri and Sylva lay claim to the party leadership in the state.

MEANWHILE, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has said that Nigerian women will give Tinubu a resounding victory in the 2027 general election.

Speaking in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, during a day working visit to the state at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC} built by the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP), a world bank assistedprogramme,Sulaiman-Ibrahim disclosed that under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President, the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has embedded this vision in the Renewed Hope Social Impact Intervention Programmes.

These programmes, she said, are designed to restore dignity, expand opportunities, and strengthen families, as well as ensuring that no woman, child, or vulnerable person is left behind.
