The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), Lagos state axis in conjunction with the Lagos State University (LASU) Students Union Government (SUG), resolved they will support the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the party’s governorship candidate of the state, Babajide Sanwo Olu for the 2023 election.

They made this known yesterday at the LASU and LASUED political evangelical seminar organised by a social political platform, Asiwaju Grassroots Talk (AGT), Directorate of Student Affairs tagged: ‘Reawakening the political consciousness of students of tertiary institution and their indispensable participation in politics and governance’ held in LASU.

The SUG President, Adelakun Adeoye described Tinubu as the grand pioneer of LASU, saying it was the foundation laid down by him that the students are currently benefiting from.

He said: “We have so much confidence in him (Tinubu) becoming our next president, Awalokan. It’s Tinubu’s turn to be the next president and he will do a great job beyond what he has done in Lagos State when he was governor. We believe he will bring about the transformation, which the youths have been clamouring for.”

“LASU is where it is today because of the foundation Tinubu laid. Age is not what we need in leadership, what matter most is the delivery and capacity to lead and bring us the transformation we need.”

Adeoye implored youths and Lagos State students across the tertiary institutions to support Tinubu, saying he has the capacity to bring development to the country.

NANS president Lagos axis, Olusesi Tolulope, said Tinubu started ‘a day governor’ for the overall best student in Lagos and has invested a lot in the education sector of the state before other governors toed the same path.

Olusesi commended the Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu for upgrading two tertiary schools to universities in the state.

“We are confident that their antecedent will speak for them (Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu). What we can give to support them is to encourage ourselves to get our Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and vote for them and also tell others of their good works.”

The Director General of AGT, Dr. Olukoya Adeniyi, said, “we take advantage of every electoral circle to support a candidate that we believe can give good governance.”

Adeniyi added that the youths are no longer the leaders of tomorrow but leaders of today, adding that youth’s involvement in politics is the only way to demand what they want from the government. He urged the students to come out massively to support Tinubu to be the next president of the country for their well being.
