The Northern Elders Forum has called on the Federal Government to focus on resolving the Mambilla hydro power dispute and ensure the project comes to fruition as soon as possible.
While commending President Bola Tinubu for taking bold steps on critical policies and infrastructural projects, the forum charged the Nigerian leader to prioritise fixing of the Mambilla plant.
The group asked the President to replicate the same wisdom applied in resolving the OML 245 dispute and the swift nature in executing the Calabar costal highway project in Mambilla case.g
NEF and Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) are clamouring for swift resolution and execution, sighting how the project is an antidote to abject poverty and insecurity in the Northeast region.
The Mambilla hydro power project is expected to generate 50,000 short-term jobs, long-term economic spill overs and 3,050 mega watts of hydro power electricity capable of industrialising the region and strengthening general productivity of the nation.
Spokesman Abdul-Azeez Suleiman reiterated the importance of “praying for our leaders, as all holy books affirm prayers for the leadership as a duty to all faithful.”
